On July 7-14, our group is heading to Salida, Colorado to embark on Wilderness Trek: a week of spiritual development, group building, and physical challenge. Trek is a six day backpacking adventure in the Rocky Mountains, and our trip will be led by the professional guides from Wilderness Expeditions. They will be providing all the gear, supplies, and food we need during our week in the wilderness.
Our trip will be a 6-day backpacking expedition, and will include a day of rappelling, three days of backpacking (including summiting a 14,000 ft. mountain), and a day of rest and focus on the mountain. This trip is guaranteed to challenge us physically and spiritually. Trek is open to all current youth group-age students. Because the hike is physically and mentally challenging, participants will be required to join us for group training hikes in the months leading up to our trip. Trek’s long-standing rule is “Everyone summits, or nobody does.” This fosters teamwork, and forces every participant to consider not only their own desires, comfort, and needs, but also those of the group. Our team building will begin long before we leave Bartlesville, and your child will experience the blessings of Trek long after we have arrived back home. This trip is $375/participant. We will be doing some group fundraising to get the price down that much, and your teens will also have resources to help them raise additional money on their own. As always, financial assistance is also available to any who need it. |
RAPPELLING forces group members to overcome fears and push one another to do something hard. We will rappel on Sunday.
BACKPACKING is an amazing team builder. Because you carry all your stuff for the week with you, the group literally carries each other’s burdens.
